We have been retained by a prominent, investment-focused, sophisticated family office (10B+ AUM) based in the Metro DC area in their search for a Managing Director-CFO/COO to oversee all financial/operational matters related to the familys diverse business and personal holdings which includes founders public equity stock, numerous high profile alternative investments including ownership in complex operating companies, real estate, active operating foundations, trusts and other assets. This is a unique, special role to be a trusted advisor who will be influential and visible both internal within the team and external within the business community. Position

This hands-on, experienced financial professional will manage a small staff over the financial and operational affairs for the Family business and personal assets, which includes cash management strategy/forecasting, capital allocation/deployment, reporting, manage external advisory relationships (legal, banking, lender, etc.) compliance (tax, legal and regulatory), transactional activity (due diligence, structuring and closing), risk management/mitigation strategy and initiatives, financial / operational oversight for family matters, work closely with the owner and CIO in strategy and investment matters and numerous diverse special projects. This role will devise strategy, solutions and plans for the effective and efficient operations of the Familys holdings and work closely and collaboratively across the organization and outside advisors/experts to assess risk and propose recommendations regarding investment and operational matters. This person will be responsible for highly sensitive and confidential information relating to the Familys financial/operational matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance or related degree. CPA highly preferred.
  • Minimum 20 years of related experience with at least 5 years in a relevant management/decision-making role within a family office or meaningful, privately held company with high net-worth owners.
  • Solid financial management experience with the ability to define/resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in an entrepreneurial, unstructured environment
  • Must have strong financial management experience with demonstrated skills in developing and implementing operational procedures and controls for the finance team and estate operations.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation required. Strong business, problem solving and intellectual acumen.
  • A hands-on, take-charge financial professional with strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Superior communication, people management and critical thinking skills.
