ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Data Scientist Subject Matter Expert to join our AI practice in Herndon, VA . This is a Hybrid position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Research and evaluate emerging AI, data science, and related technologies, such as Generative AI, tools and approaches for responsible and trustworthy AI

• Develop statistical and advanced analytics models using advanced analytic techniques such as Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Graph Analytics, Computer Vision, modeling and simulation, anomaly detection, and data visualization.

• Direct and actively contribute to proof-of-concept studies and research prototypes in data science and AI. Apply design thinking or other solution-based methods to solve problems consisting of various qualitative activities that support the generation of insightful, mission-centered design solutions.

• Address data science technical challenges in the development of solutions, including algorithms, models, data manipulation, or other technical challenges related to data science.

• Perform solution development through whiteboarding sessions addressing algorithmic problems, data manipulation tasks, or other technical challenges related to data science. Communicate findings to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders, and engage clients and engage clients by effectively conveying complex technical concepts.

• Lead and mentor entry-level, mid-level, and senior level practitioners of AI and data science.

• Participate in Internal Research & Development (IRAD) directions in AI, data science, and related scientific areas. Ensure that these directions are aligned with the practice strategy and client needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field and 10 years of experience OR a Master's degree and 8 years of experience.

• Experience in Information Retrieval including experience with Lucene, ElasticSearch or other full-text indexing tools

• Experience handling unstructured multilingual datasets

• In depth knowledge of cloud providers services (e.g., IBM, AWS, Azure and GCP) and experience working across environments and on premise.

• Strong experience working with Python or R programming languages.

• Experience in Machine Learning to include - Feature extraction statistical approaches, linear and non-linear classifiers, and deep learning.

• Experience performing and leading research in AI and/or data science.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in a related field.

• Experience with analyzing and reporting diverse data. Knowledge of natural language processing techniques.

• Knowledge of cross-lingual information retrieval techniques. Knowledge of commercial Cloud services used by the Intelligence Community (IC).

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating information to a senior executive audience.

• Track record of relevant technical publications.

Clearance Requirements:

• No clearance to start but must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

• Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

• The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and clients, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
