Job Description: Program Chair and Core Faculty - Counseling Psychology The Counseling Psychology Department at Pacifica Graduate Institute offers two depth psychologically focused graduate programs: an MA and a PsyD. These programs prepare students for licensure as an LMFT and/or LPCC (MA) or as Psychologists (PsyD). The department emphasizes a collegial, interpersonal approach to teaching and learning, focusing on licensure and professional development, with faculty, staff, and students collaborating to support student success. Program Chairs are considered full-time faculty with all associated rights and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be a fully licensed clinician passionate about teaching, student support, and collaborative pedagogical work from a depth psychological perspective. This role combines faculty responsibilities with program leadership duties. Examples of Duties The Chair Role The Chair primarily handles administrative duties, with optional teaching responsibilities. Responsibilities include academic leadership, faculty supervision, curriculum oversight, student success initiatives, and accreditation compliance. They lead all academic and administrative aspects of the Counseling Psychology program. Responsibilities include: Overseeing daily operations and academic programming in line with BBS (MA), BoP (PsyD), WSCUC, and DOE standards. Managing program governance with the Department Management Council. Representing the program within the institution and externally. Core Faculty Responsibilities Participate in departmental meetings, student events, curriculum review, faculty searches, and program evaluations. Attend campus and community events, and faculty meetings. Teaching Teach approximately 18 units annually in the counseling psychology programs. Support curriculum development, provide detailed feedback on student work, and prepare course materials, incorporating DEI perspectives. Admissions and Student Support Participate in information sessions, file reviews, and interview days. Respond to student inquiries, hold office hours, mentor students, and assist with examinations and research supervision. Assessment, Accreditation, and Professional Development Support accreditation activities, adhere to licensure regulations, and participate in institutional assessments. Maintain active licensure and engage in ongoing professional activities. Institutional Citizenship Contribute actively to the institute's community, support departmental and institutional initiatives, and uphold the mission. The duties are subject to review and revision during annual evaluations. Qualifications Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse groups. Educational requirements include a Psy.D., Ed.D., or Ph.D. in a related field for the doctoral program, and a minimum of an M.A. for the master's program, with active licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or Psychologist. Proficiency in English, intermediate math skills, and computer literacy are required. Experience with PowerCampus and D2L is preferred. Candidates should be capable of physical activities related to the role, including sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
