Travel RN – Pediatric Oncology/Hematology (Night Shift)

Location: Charlotte, NC
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (6:45p – 7:15a), 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks (with option to extend)

About the Facility

• 247 Licensed Beds
• 24-bed Pediatric Hematology/Oncology & BMT unit (16 Hem/Onc, 8 BMT)
• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center & Teaching Hospital
• Certified Stroke Center & Chest Pain Center
• Nationally ranked Congenital Cardiology (#7 by USNWR)
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing
• Traveler-friendly: Free parking, streamlined orientation, and a strong traveler support culture

What You’ll Do

• Care for pediatric oncology/hematology patients including solid tumors, leukemia, sickle cell, aplastic anemia
• Provide specialized care for bone marrow transplant patients (Day 0–2)
• Administer blood products, chemotherapy, PCA pumps, and advanced IV therapies
• Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation, port access, central line care, and blood cultures
• Deliver end-of-life care with compassion when required
• Float only to general pediatric med units (never PICU, NICU, or main ER)

Patient Ratios

• Hem/Onc: 1:3
• Observation/Off Service: 1:3–4
• Bone Marrow Transplant: 1:1–2 (acuity dependent)

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing with strong Oncology/Hematology experience
• Required skills:
  • Blood product transfusion
  • Chemo administration
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Central line care, PCA pumps, Heparin gtts
  • Port access
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, APHON provider card

Preferred Skills

• Bone marrow transplant experience (Day 0–2)
• End-of-life care (Precedex gtt, intranasal Versed, Ketamine drips, chest tubes)
